For thirty-one years, I worked as a hairstylist.
And if that career taught me anything, it’s that women don’t always come looking for a big change. Sometimes they simply want to feel a little more like themselves again.
That stayed with me.
Bennett and I had been coming to Pawleys Island, South Carolina, for years. We loved the slower pace, the familiar faces, the quiet beauty of the coast, and the way life seemed to feel a little softer here.
Ten years ago, we finally made it home.
I was ready for a new chapter, and with Bennett beside me, I started Bennett & Ellis.
From the beginning, I wanted it to be about more than clothing.
I wanted to choose pieces for real women. Women with full lives, changing bodies, busy days, special occasions, and everything in between. Clothes that felt comfortable, flattering, easy to wear, and still made you feel beautiful.
Over the years, this little business became something deeply personal to us.
There were women who came back season after season. Women who trusted me to suggest something they never would have picked for themselves. Women who found a dress, a blouse, or a sweater and suddenly stood a little differently when they saw themselves in the mirror.
Those were always my favorite moments.
Because in a way, I never really left my first career behind.
I simply found another way to help women feel good about themselves.
Now I’m sixty-four, and after ten wonderful years, Bennett and I have decided it’s time for a new chapter.
A slower one.
More time together. More mornings without a schedule. More afternoons by the water. More space for the things we kept saying we would do “one day.”
So Bennett & Ellis is coming to an end, and everything from the boutique has been reduced to the lowest prices we’ve ever offered.
It’s bittersweet.
Every piece was chosen with care, and seeing this chapter come to a close brings back so many memories.
But more than anything, I feel grateful.
Grateful for every woman who trusted us.
Grateful for every kind message, every order, every recommendation to a friend, and every moment this little business became part of someone’s life.

Trust that feeling.
That little moment is what Bennett & Ellis was always about.
